Vehicle Extras Explained
Extras are optional items a host offers with a vehicle, such as a child seat, cargo accessory, or prepaid mileage package. Their price is shown before you add them.
Prelaunch: Live guest bookings are not open yet. Extra pricing and availability on private host listings are being prepared for launch.
What hosts can offer
An extra is a vehicle-specific add-on created by the host. Examples may include:
- Child or booster seats
- Roof racks or cargo carriers
- Tire chains
- Prepaid mileage
- Prepaid fuel
- Other vehicle-specific equipment or conveniences
Each host decides what to offer, the description, available quantity, and whether the price is charged per trip, per day, or per item.
Adding an extra
Available extras appear in the booking flow. Choose the quantity you want before confirming the trip. The locked quote shows each selected extra and recalculates the complete guest total.
Changing an extra after a quote is created changes the trip inputs, so Carvia creates an updated quote rather than silently adding a later charge.
Host earnings on extras
The host currently receives 90% of the extras total. This is separate from the 75%, 85%, or 93% vehicle earnings-plan share applied to the adjusted trip price.
Refunds and availability
- If the trip does not happen, selected extras refund according to the cancellation breakdown shown for the trip; the configured cancellation charge is calculated from the adjusted trip price rather than the extras.
- If a selected extra is missing or cannot be provided at handoff, message the host in Carvia Inbox before driving away. Contact support from the trip if it cannot be resolved.
Mileage extras
A prepaid mileage extra is different from a post-trip additional-distance charge. The prepaid extra is selected and priced before booking. If the final odometer exceeds the trip's included distance, any additional-distance request uses the per-mile rate frozen for that booking and the submitted check-in and checkout readings.
